TV – your lives in our hands

A panel of industry experts will discuss ethics and trust in TV documentaries.

Channel 4’s Benefits Street brought audiences of more than 5m to the lives of people trapped on welfare and sparked a national debate.

However critics labeled the series “poverty porn”.

So how do you handle vulnerable contributors in character-led documentaries, balancing the need to show viewers how it is without making participants feel betrayed?

The meeting will be held at 1900 on Monday 14 April 2014, at the IBIS Hotel, 3 Cardington Street, London NW1 2LW.

Event hashtag #bectudocdebate.

This event is organised by the LPD Writers Producers and Directors Branch.
